Frank Ng – Featured Volunteer of the Month – December

volunteering

The skills-based volunteers at Conjunct are indeed the spirit and the lifeblood of the organisation. In the last five years, we have worked with close to 1000 volunteers, both student and professional, to strengthen the social good organisations in Singapore. It is heartening for us to see the effort people make to give back to society, and we feel blessed to be a driving force for volunteers to be associated with.

The celebratory season is here, and the festive spirit is all around us. What better way for us to participate in this season than celebrating one of our rockstar volunteers!!

Frank (Yu Hang) Ng is our Volunteer of the Month for December!

KNOWING, FRANK:

photoFrank has been a volunteer with Conjunct for the last four years!! He joined as an Associate Consultant in the SMU Chapter in 2013. After completing two cycles of consulting projects, Frank moved on a member of our Corporates and Institutions (C&I) team in August 2015. He is one of the many people who has transitioned from a student to a professional and who continues to volunteer with us.

A person with varied interests, Frank’s day job is as a Management Associate with the Singapore Tourism Board (he is just five months old there and rocking already! :)). Outside of his work and his role as a volunteer with us, Frank is also a teaching assistant for the digital marketing class at General Assembly.

WORKING WITH CONJUNCT:

“The whole concept of “skills-based volunteering” is something that drew me – and a lot of others – to Conjunct” – says Frank. While he does find it challenging to explain to his friends/family/colleagues why his volunteering involves corporate-ish calls, emails, and meetings (considering his work with the C&I team), he nevertheless has found the journey rewarding both in impact to the non-profits and in his personal growth.

His work with the C&I team has been great as we have only one step of separation from the non-profit, the reason why he continues to volunteer with us in the first place. The other area he relates to is the easy – passionate people –  “cynical idealists” as he once heard – he interacts with.

Working with Frank has been an excellent experience for all of his fellow volunteers. He adds a lot of value and passion for the work he does. His skills and knowledge with regards to marketing, design thinking and facilitation are a huge plus. We also admire how he always takes the lead and initiative with various projects and is still keen to help people. Despite his hectic schedule and many interests, Frank’s support to the Conjunct work has been unwavering and of great value.

Known to be a very adventurous person, Frank loves nature and is an avid mountaineer. He says, “Although Singapore is literally the worst place to do it, I love hiking and mountain climbing. Was fortunate to lead/go on expeditions across Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar, Taiwan, China, Korea, Canada, and the U.S.”. On the professional end, his vision is to be a top marketing professional in the tourism industry.

MESSAGE TO FELLOW VOLUNTEERS:

“Stay hungry, stay foolish! I understand balancing between Conjunct, and one’s work/ personal/family could be challenging, but don’t be so serious and just enjoy the process. Our work at Conjunct is often sustained across many rolling hills as opposed to one peak. Great to see where we’ve come as a team, and hope we have more years of giving “strategy with a heart”.

Knowing and working with Frank has been an absolute pleasure for us at Conjunct. We are looking forward to our continued work with him! Thank you, Frank! If you would like to connect with Frank, his LinkedIn profile is https://www.linkedin.com/in/frankngyh.
